Location: Esher, Surrey KT10
Work Scope: Feasibility Study
The Tile house is located within a private residential road in Esher. This beautiful seven bedroom Victorian detached house contains distinctive architectural characters such as tile cladded external wall, hardwood framed round bay window and original interior timber mouldings.
The client’s brief is to improve the existing kitchen area to accommodate additional storage spaces, free standing kitchen furniture and a large dinning table (at least 2.4 metres long).
Our design approach is to create twin orangeries that are extended from the existing kitchen and the living room to enlarge the space to be met with the client's demand. Especially the living room extension called ‘Sun lounge’ links new dinning area and existing living space, also functions as a medium space between ‘in & out’.
Aesthetically, the details of orangery will be matched with the original Victorian style however it will be equipped with cutting edge glazing systems such as Pilkington Activ- Sunshade roof glazing for solar control and self-cleaning, and Pilkington Suncool high-performance coated glass to be used in the walls to achieve highest thermal performance.
